Installation on CentOS 7 (tested on CentOS-7-x86_64-DVD-1503-01.iso with recent updates):

  • wget command – check installation:
    • command -v wget
  • wget should be installed, if not use:
    • yum install wget
  • epel repository – check installation:
    • ls -l /etc/yum.repos.d/
    • you should see “epel.repo” and “epel-testing.repo” files in list
  • epel should be already installed, if not use:
    • wget -r --no-parent -A 'epel-release-*.rpm' http://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/epel/7/x86_64/e/
    • rpm -Uvh dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/epel/7/x86_64/e/epel-release-*.rpm
  • install redis using:
    • yum install redis
  • start redis service using:
    • systemctl start redis.service
  • check status of redis service:
    • systemctl status redis.service
  • enable redis on startup:
    • systemctl enable redis.service
  • check redis process using:
    • ps -ef|grep redis
    • you will see result like this: ……… /usr/bin/redis-server 127.0.0.1:6379
  • check accesibility of redis using:
    • redis-cli ping
    • you should get answer: PONG
