About monit:

  • monit is very powerfull service on linux which is us to monitor running processes and restart them if they crash
  • restart can be conditional – for example to stop process if it crashes repeatedly after several starts etc.
  • monit can raise alerts etc. to inform you about problems

Install monit on Linux:

  • check if monit is installed: command -v monit
  • install on CentOS: yum -y install monit
  • install on Ubuntu:

HTTP interface of monit:

  • in browser: localhost:2812
  • default login: admin/monit
  • default http port and login can be both changed in /etc/monitrc file

Configure monit to monitor redis server:

  • create control file for redis – see here
